Free-flight in Tasmania

Where Tasmania takes flight.

The Tasmanian Hang gliding & Paragliding Association — pilot community, flight-site guides, events, member resources, and everything you need to fly safely on the island.

About THPA · Our mission

A volunteer community keeping Tasmanian skies open and safe.

The Tasmanian Hang gliding & Paragliding Association exists to support free-flight pilots across Tasmania — maintaining site access, sharing local knowledge, running events and clinics, and being the official local voice for the sport. We're run entirely by volunteers from the flying community.

Pilot community

A vibrant network of paragliding and hang gliding pilots flying Tasmania's extraordinary terrain — from coastal cliffs to mountain ridges.

Curated site guides

Detailed flying sites with launch info, hazards, wind direction, contact pilots, and current ratings — all in one place.

Events & clinics

From skill-up clinics to interstate fly-ins, the THPA calendar keeps members in the loop and helps build a connected flying community.

The volunteers behind THPA

Meet the committee.

Run entirely by pilots, for pilots. The executive keeps site access open, safety standards high, and the calendar full — entirely on a volunteer basis.
