PG4, but site is suitable for PG3 Pilots with prior duning experience and under supervision. Obstacles behind dunes include pine forest and fences.
Linking the sea cliffs to Cape Direction to the west is possible in strong ESE (PG4 Only). When doing so DO NOT land on the headland as land is owned by the department of defence and is a secured compound. DO NOT hike up the headland for the same reason and the presence of a native bird colony.
Main Dune is to right of the access track from carpark, best flown in a Sea Breeze. Dunes to the left (east) are private land.
Flying beyond the main dune to the far left and far right of the beach is possible in the suitable wind conditions. Caution venturis at each end of the main dune with vegetation gaps, can cause gliders to get blown back.
Hazards
<p>Tops of dunes have many branches and dead trees which can catch glider lines when flying in light conditions. Several venturis between vegetation exist, caution advised in strong conditions. High tides approach the base of dunes, tide checks recommended prior to arrival.</p> <p>Many families, surfers and dog walkers use the beach recreationally. Maintain 25m horizontal and 100ft vertical separation. Give way when landing.</p>
