This site is perhaps the best place for PG3 pilots to learn duning near Hobart, due to the (relatively) minor presence of Hazards over the back, large beach at all tides and easy ground handling track up the dune.
Main Dune very near to the access track from carpark, best flown in a Sea Breeze.
Flying beyond the main dune to the far left and far right of the beach is possible in the suitable wind conditions.
Hazards
<p>Caution of tree roots at the top of the dune when launching from there in light conditions.</p> <p>Many families and dog walkers use the beach recreationally, give way when landing.</p> <p>When crossed to the west, wind can be turbulent due being in the wake of Betsey Island.</p>
