PG2/HG-S.
Gaffs hill is facing the dominant wind direction in Tassie which makes it really nice for an easy soaring session in NW conditions, or a nice start for XC.
In summer conditions violent thermals have been observed, so be cautious if you are a low-hour pilot. Sometimes it's a PG4 hill!!. Keep assessing the conditions for change when on the hill.
NOTE : The SE facing launch is PG4 at all times. It is more laid back than most of the hill. When launching in soarable conditions, care must be taken as it can get blown out quickly. The area can be overgrown with grass or thistles.
Hazards

The conditions could change really quickly on the hill, keep assessing the conditions throughout the time you are setting up. Fast changes of conditions have been observed on this site. Even if the launch has been cleared of rock, there are still many around, watch your ankles and your lines.

There are lots of fences aroumnd the bomb-out, give plenty of space for your landing approach.
