Gaffs Hill, Tunbridge - New access arrangements
Friday, 6 June 2025
I’ve been speaking with Chris Hedlam, owner at Gaffs, about simplifying the access. He has been so impressed by pilot behaviour that he is happy to trial “notification on the day” style access.
The process will be that you contact one of the four Site Contacts listed below and they send a message to Chris. The Site Contact person will post in WhatsApp South and North flying that the owner has been notified of flying. You can enter the property once you see this post. Site Contacts DON’T need to wait for a response from Chris.
This is much like Lemon Hill except only those 4 people can send the “notification of flying” to the owner.
Whenever possible, please still try to give day-before notice as a courtesy and to help inform other pilots that you think it’s a flyable day, which maybe help their planning.
The only drawback to this is that if flying is not allowed that day you might already be there on site before Chris replies (coverage is patchy for them on the property) and you’ll need to leave. But it seems like a small price for the freedom this new arrangement allows.
Please, as always, be respectful of the privilege that this is!!!
Let’s follow the gate photo protocols on this property as well, as the triple gate below launch is used in different configurations at different times of the year. First person in photographs the gate before opening, last person to leave makes sure it’s left the same.
